The Milanese

TheMilanese.com is a personal visual archive dedicated to art, architecture, design, photography, graphic design, fashion and people.

Founded in Milan in 2010 by Beatriz Lamarca and Luca Spagnolo, the project was born during the early WordPress and Tumblr era, when the internet felt like an endless territory for discovering, collecting and connecting images. What started as a shared online mood-board gradually became an archive of references gathered across more than fifteen years—a record of changing tastes, obsessions, discoveries and visual culture.

Moving freely between past and present, established names and anonymous finds, The Milanese remains deliberately personal: a place to collect what catches the eye and preserve the images, objects, spaces and people that continue to inspire.

Beatriz Lamarca is a Brazilian artist and art director, born in Rio de Janeiro in 1984 and currently based in Paris. With a background in Art History and many years spent living and working in Italy, her personal practice moves between photography, moving image, writing and digital media, exploring memory, identity, intimacy and the relationship between physical and simulated worlds.

In 2026, she published her first artist book, Simulated Lovers, with Patrick Remy Studio in Paris, bringing together more than five years of photographic and autobiographical research. The book launched in Paris in June 2026, followed by Arles, with a New York presentation currently being developed.

Alongside her artistic practice, Beatriz has worked as an Art Director at Louis Vuitton since 2020, developing creative direction and digital experiences across the Maison’s cultural, institutional and international projects.

More than fifteen years after it began, The Milanese remains what it was from the start: a personal place for looking, collecting and remembering.
